Due to Popular Demand

Okay - you know I was wanting to talk about the season finales of all my shows but didn't since this isn't "television yays and ughs" or "my random thoughts on television" and I was feeling like I should post about something non-television, but since you asked...

Grey's Anatomy - I hadn't been lovin' Grey's as much as I had in the past...It was great that season finale with Denny dying and the "prom" and when the season returned it started out good but ended okay and this season started out blah for me, and then the strike happened and even though that ruined Joshua Jackson joining the cast as a love interest for Yang, I think it was a good thing because it came back much better. I like that some time had passed on the show (if nothing else but to blur over that Gizzie thing). I really enjoyed the last two episodes. HEARTBREAKING - next to last episode - the woman they convinced she had only imagined the love of her life...I think the sad part wasn't that she went in for the procedure, then he showed up then she was in a coma BUT that she died thinking that such a wonderful thing didn't really happen. Last episode, Michelle Tanner's little friend from Full House grew up to be a really great actor. (Yes, I spent the entire episode trying to figure out why she looked so familiar and had to get on imdb.com to figure it out). I loved when Meredith said she was "whole and healed" because that's how I'm feeling about Grey's!

Desperate Housewives - Again, last season I wasn't liking it as much as in the past but this season has been great - pre and post strike. Crazy ending. I do like that they tied up all the loose ends before jumping (and no spoiler alert because if you haven't watched by now you have surely heard) FIVE years into the future. I had heard this was maybe going to happen and I thought that it would be crazy but it really wasn't...

The Office - (If you don't watch this show, please borrow the first three seasons from me!) I really felt this was a little rushed post strike...it makes me sad that it could have been so much better without the strike.

Brothers and Sisters - I'm okay with being back to square one ("R"sibling), because I enjoyed the first trip. This show for me is what Grey's used to be - where I experience such a wide range of emotions in one show.

Okay, you know there are many more finales I could write about but I won't...I may be back next weekend to write about Lost (Fantastic season! Just think this entire season has only covered about a week of island time). Looking forward to not having as many shows I can't miss this summer although I'm looking forward to the return of The Mole and Army Wives!

Random Thoughts on Televison & Radio

Okay...Long time no post here but I thought I'd post SOMETHING. You all know there are several shows I love to watch and thanks to the wonderful invention of the DVR I can watch quite a bit in much less time. it seems like for as many shows as I enjoy that I should be watching television 24/7 but that's really not the case...we watch shows as a family during Mackenzie's treatments (a lot of the reality shows since there isn't much else appropriate and the worst thing on the reality shows we watch is the language and how people act - which we take as opportunities to point out how a person could act better), Jason and I watch shows we both enjoy after the girls go to bed (Thursday nights are especially busy) and then I catch the shows that only I like here and there (For instance, at 3am today when I couldn't sleep). So, here are a few of my random thoughts from television I've watched lately:

American Idol - I really hope David Cook does something where I can listen to him sing on the radio - win or loose. I do think the other David, who I like to call "Aww Shucks David" has a great voice but I just don't enjoy him as much.

Grey's Anatomy - I like Private Practice but it was great to have Kate Walsh back as Addison on Grey's last week.

Brothers & Sisters - I love it!

The Office - the episode a couple of weeks ago when Toby's hand lingered on Pam's knee an inappropriately long time and his dialogue afterwards was TOO funny. I'm still laughing.

Desperate Housewives - I think Gaby has the funniest lines on (followed by Edie).

Survivor - Natalie has got to go...and why in the Nickelodeon did James have to leave?

Jon & Kate Plus Eight - There is a big Mother's Day marathon if you haven't ever watched...I think it must be starting today because I had to cancel a bunch of future recordings on the DVR.

Okay onto radio, you also all know I really enjoy Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. He's working with this guy Freddy he found on myspace and he has a song available for purchase and I love it - go to http://www.kiddlive.com/ and buy it - Defying Gravity. The girls and I all love it.

For Sheila

You should regret not watching this season. Two words...FAKE PARENTS. On a hometown date one of the girls hired actors to pose as her parents and create awkward situations for the Bachelor. If I were Chris Harrison I'd have to call Amanda the most clever woman in Bachelor history.

Shayne on the Bachelor

Okay...I know I should be posting to the fam site but I just wanted to post this real quick. I enjoy the Internet Movie Database - I could spend hours clicking on movies and actors, very helpful for playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon...Anyway, I just went to see what it said about Shayne on the Bachelor at her Dad's listing. Lorenzo Lamas' "STARmeter" is up 2505% since last week. I sure did enjoy watching Falcon Crest with my Mimi!

Kudos to the Lost Writers

A Flash Back AND a Flash Forward...genious! Jin dead, not cool.

(Update: Someone on another website pointed out that the headstone said died 9/22/04, the date of the crash - so maybe he isn't dead, just still on the island - this show is such a tease and I love it).

Ooks

We have not always been die hard fans of Americal Idol - I think we only watched one full season (Fantasia) and caught episodes here and there for all the rest. But, we have been watching this go around and I've decided I like the ooks. David COOK and BrOOKe White. Mackenzie likes Micheal Johns (I'd take him as my third choice, too bad hes doesn't have an ook in his name)and David Archuleta.

DVR

My baby learned a new skill! No not one of my children - I talk about them on the other blog - my DVR! When I scroll through the list it tells me if the show is NEW! This will really come in handy when all the shows come back.

Gather 'Round - We Have a Winner! (Project Runway)

Okay so my top three prediction was correct and even though I was rooting for Jillian (althought for the first time in four seasons, I didn't dislike any of the top three), I'm fine that Christian won - he had just been so cocky (and yes, he probably had good reason for that) throughout the entire season BUT he did tone it down during the finale. So, I am happy - especially since he's so tiny he could fit in my pocket, when Heidi hugged him on the runway, I could not believe how itty bitty he seemed. And bonus points for him, he made Victoria Beckham smile - he needs an extra prize for that!

I meant to blog last week after the Chris/Rami episode. Has Chris never heard that joke (Seinfeld?) that hair is loved, sought after, admired AS LONG AS IT'S ATTACHED TO A HEAD. The moment even one hair is seperated from the head it becomes vile & disgusting, find one strand of hair in your food and your gag reflexes go out of control (even if that hair came out of the chef that walked by earlier and you commented - "Wow, she has the most beautiful hair in the world"). You DO NOT dye hair black and attach it to clothes. Sure, it looks neat but as soon as you mention that it is hair that used to be beautiful but is no longer - key part - attached to a head, people have problems!

Top Chef, Chicago - next week! (Did you see Padma in the audience? She should be a guest judge sometime)

Auf Wiedersehen

Jimmy Kimmel

Since I posted on the funny Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon response, of course I have to post about Jimmy Kimmel's funny star studded video response...similar content to Matt & Sarah but with Jimmy & Ben Affleck. You know where to go and what to search for.

Knight Rider

Did anyone happen to catch that two hour elaborate Ford commercial...I mean the new Knight Rider last night? I thought it would be fun to watch but I thought it was horrible. What's it saying when the best acting of the night comes from David Hasselhoff during his three minute guest appearance? At least KITTs still cool (and tidbit - voiced by Val Kilmar).

Credit

Mackenzie is going to have FANTASTIC credit! She LOVES this freecreditreport.com commercial! She will stop whatever she is doing to watch it and she will rewind it a few times to see it again, and again, and again...

I Heart Tim Gunn

My sister-in-law (thanks Andrea!) just e-mailed me a few links for some Project Runway spoilers. I was wondering what was going on because the finale for Project Runway is taped during Fashion Week in NY but we still have five contestants...looks like all five of them got to show a collection even if it will be narrowed down to three for the finale.

This show is "fierce", I think Christian would agree. Anyway, click HERE for pictures of their collections and HERE or HERE for other Project Runway juice.

My predictions for final three are Rami, Christian, and Jillian and I want Jillian to take it all.

I'll go ahead and put this out in the universe too - I hope Jack gets to be on the next season and I love that he's dating Dale from Top Chef...Bravo Love Connection!

Superbowl Sunday (halftime – we have a winner!!)

Continued from below…

  • Are those real fireworks?
  • I'm sure the person that coordinates getting the halftime entertainment on and off the field is heading to get a drink.
  • Will Ferrell will make a movie about every single sport there is before he dies.
  • I think we are finally almost live.
  • Come on Giants; don't let them score after getting a first down from that challenge.
  • I LOVE MY MOMMY AND DADDY.GO GIANTS GO. By, Peyton(mom made me write by, Peyton)
  • Nfl.com/superad
  • Madonna got millions of dollars for that
  • TOUCHDOWN GIANTS!
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • Let's go Eli.
  • I do like Pina Coladas.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Wow!
  • Tom Brady Sack – his baby mama is somewhere laughing.
  • What do they do with all the things – t-shirts, hats, etc. - printed up with the losing teams logo?
  • I can't believe the Giants won but I'm glad they did.
  • Was there just a commercial that a furniture store in NWA carries a line by Candace Olsen?
  • Goodnight.

Super Bowl Sunday (pregame – halftime)

Family Day/Night for Superbowl Sunday. Peyton woke up with a stomach bug and we hung around the house all day.

We all played a board game during all the pregame stuff (Settlers, or actually Die Siedler Von Catan) a game my friend Tara brought us from Germany – and our favorite game to play. I'm sure we aren't playing exactly right, the directions and cards you play with are in German. We got the English directions off the website and changed a couple of things.

I actually do enjoy football, I don't watch just for the commercials, but I may not have the best reasons for picking a team . Tonight I'm rooting for the Giants. Reasons – they are the underdogs, I like Eli more than Tom Brady…hmmm if I think of more reasons, I'll post them later.

My random thoughts on the Super Bowl:

  • Lots of good commercials and skits in the couple of hours leading up to the game.
  • I wish Paula Abdul would just re-release Straight Up.
  • Oh – John Krasinski! I may have to change teams, he's going for the Patriots. He is so funny – when Ryan Seacrest asks who he's rooting for he says (something like) "It would be awkward if I was going for NY wearing this hat", Ryan was just too short to see…
  • I'm going to have to look up that guy with the myspace rapping about the Superbowl "Soup or Bowl" commercial.
  • Not even a minute into the game, how are their pants so dirty already?
  • Chris Kattan saved that Pepsi commercial! And was that LL Cool J?
  • Oh look! Jim Carrey & Jenny McCarthy! Just heard an interview with her and Ryan Seacrest on the radio this morning and I teared up when she talked about how good Jim is with her son.
  • That Peyton Manning was so good on SNL. I hope his brother gets a ring too.
  • OH NO! Not an interception! (It probably actually happened 20 minutes ago since we've been pausing it to get dinner, etc. but we can't exactly fast forward the commercials).
  • It IS a shame they can't open the roof.
  • I want to see Leatherheads.
  • Icky commercial with the heart.
  • Come on Giants – you have 10 seconds to score before halftime.
  • Nada.
  • Halftime, Hello Tom Petty.

Lost

Tonight! It's been so long since it was on. We did watch last year's season finale that was on last night and the extra tidbits that popped up on the bottom were helpful (and proof the writers really need to come back) in jogging my memory and getting me excited for tonight!

Jon & Kate Plus 8

I. Love. This. Show. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. I don't know what is more fun to watch - Jon and Kate juggling 8 kids or Jon and Kate arguing with each other when they are recapping events for the camera. TLC, Monday nights at 8pm.

The Gosselin family website with more information about them (like that their last name is Gosseling) available at http://www.sixgosselins.com/Home.html . Including their speaking engagements (there are a few in Ohio - Sheila you should go).

Trading Spaces

I used to be a huge fan of Trading Spaces but only catch it every once in a while now. Imagine my surprise when I caught a preview last night that there was a new season starting and that Paige Davis was back. I'm kind of excited about this just because it's back to the "old school" trading spaces. During the intro I saw Paige, Doug, Hildi, Laurie, Frank and I think Goil from Top Design on Bravo (also exciting). They also have a new twist where it isn't neighbors trading spaces but people with issues (last night it was a woman and her husband switching with her ex-husband). Future eps include a mother-in-law/daughter-in-law switch, and a rival cheerleader switch.

During the divorce episode Paige mentioned that she's been divorced and is remarried - so is she divorced from the guy she did Beauty and Beast with on Broadway that was featured in a Wedding Story and that made her name Paige Page? or was she divoreced before that?

UPDATE: Paige was married in 1994 so she is still married to Beauty and the Beast/Wedding Story/Page guy (whew, now we can all sleep better tonight).
