Lost

Tonight! It's been so long since it was on. We did watch last year's season finale that was on last night and the extra tidbits that popped up on the bottom were helpful (and proof the writers really need to come back) in jogging my memory and getting me excited for tonight!

Jon & Kate Plus 8

I. Love. This. Show. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. I don't know what is more fun to watch - Jon and Kate juggling 8 kids or Jon and Kate arguing with each other when they are recapping events for the camera. TLC, Monday nights at 8pm.

The Gosselin family website with more information about them (like that their last name is Gosseling) available at http://www.sixgosselins.com/Home.html . Including their speaking engagements (there are a few in Ohio - Sheila you should go).

SAG Awards – Hooray for The Office!

I got to watch (some of) the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night and was so glad they were on since there was no Golden Globes.

I'm so sad I missed the announcement of Television Ensemble Comedy Performance won by The Office (my parents stopped by for a visit)! I LOVE this show. Although I must admit that I haven't always. I remember when it was first coming out I wanted to watch it but didn't enjoy the Pilot episode so we didn't watch it anymore. We gave it another chance last season and loved it. We bought the first and second seasons to catch up (and I still don't like the Pilot episode). A couple of weeks ago Jason gave me a "just because" present, which I opened to reveal another present which I got to open a few days later, to reveal another wrapped gift and so on and so on. Well, when I finally got down to the gift – it was the third season of The Office which was so sweet of him to get me since I've been having withdrawal from no new episodes of The Office (a little information, they actually have episodes that were written but never taped – most other shows finished taping their written episodes before shutting down production – but not The Office because as soon as the strike was announced, I heard Steve Carrell called in sick with "enlarged balls"). Back to the gift…unfortunately, I had already bought the third season on my own somewhere between opening the first gift and finally getting to the gift gift, but still it was very sweet of him and it was fun to keep unwrapping .

Back to the SAG Awards…since I missed when The Office won, I went to YouTube and found where a fan had taped and posted the show. She pretty much just used a camcorder and recorded her television – so you could see the television and dresser it was setting on – and she did not use a tripod or even a stack of books so it was pretty shaky (think The Blair Witch Project which I've never seen but know it's has a shaky camera), but I can't complain too much because at least I got to see it.

I've heard several people wonder why they were able to have the SAG awards but not the Golden Globes – here is an explanation from the New York Times:

Remarks by individual winners aside, the telecast tried to tread delicately around the fact that, in a season of labor strife, this was an awards ceremony sponsored by a labor union.

Some actors who also serve as writers wore silver and black lapel buttons with the initials W.G.A., signifying the Writers Guild of America, the union that has been on strike since Nov. 5.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards received a waiver from the Writers Guild and a promise that writers would not picket the show. It was the threat of pickets at the Golden Globes that essentially shut down that production, turning it into little more than a press conference.

It was not as if Sunday's awards show put a lot of writers back to work, however. Unlike most awards shows, the Screen Actors Guild Awards presentation does not use a master of ceremonies and therefore employed only one writer.

Trading Spaces

I used to be a huge fan of Trading Spaces but only catch it every once in a while now. Imagine my surprise when I caught a preview last night that there was a new season starting and that Paige Davis was back. I'm kind of excited about this just because it's back to the "old school" trading spaces. During the intro I saw Paige, Doug, Hildi, Laurie, Frank and I think Goil from Top Design on Bravo (also exciting). They also have a new twist where it isn't neighbors trading spaces but people with issues (last night it was a woman and her husband switching with her ex-husband). Future eps include a mother-in-law/daughter-in-law switch, and a rival cheerleader switch.

During the divorce episode Paige mentioned that she's been divorced and is remarried - so is she divorced from the guy she did Beauty and Beast with on Broadway that was featured in a Wedding Story and that made her name Paige Page? or was she divoreced before that?

UPDATE: Paige was married in 1994 so she is still married to Beauty and the Beast/Wedding Story/Page guy (whew, now we can all sleep better tonight).

4 Posts

I've posted four times today so you might want to start at the bottom. I'm sure there won't always be this many but I do have a lot of thoughts so you never know...

Boooo McDonalds!

Sorry I got sidetracked by Jack Handey - I'm sure you were just dying to hear all about my experience at McDonald's that inspired me start this at Kendra's suggestion...

Can I just say that if I knew when Chick Fil A was opening I would make a paper chain to count down the days.

I took the girls to McDonald's after school for snack/late lunch/early dinner - whatever you want to call it - and ordered a 10 piece nugget meal they wanted to share. I ordered it with apple juice, sounds like a pretty easy order right? - a #11 with an apple juice. I didn't ask for my chicken to be heated to a certain temperature (although sometime I'll tell you about the raw nuggets we got at a Fort Worth McDonald's) and cut five in half longways and five in half shortways...I just wanted the meal with an apple juice. Apparently, it's not so easy because it was impossible for the person working the drive through to ring up an apple juice with a value meal. She did say I could pay the full price for the value meal and then pay extra for an apple juice - WHAT? No thank you. Even Mackenzie was in disbelief. Maybe I should have ordered it this way...I'd like a #11 with a Sprite, but please substitute the Sprite for an apple juice. Why didn't I think of that?

So I get myself a Diet Dr.Pepper and proceed to pay and pick up my food. I ask for a Honey Mustard and she gives us one - Mackenzie wants two (and we were getting 10 pieces of chicken - she gets 1 for a four piece). Our McDonald's helper goes to get a second Honey Mustard but I see her hesitating inside, when she comes back she tells me that she had to check my order. So apparently, she is a McDonald's Server/Honey Mustard police. Are you kidding me? I didn't ask for an extra order of fries...I just wanted a SECOND Honey Mustard.

I drove away NOT lovin' it and wishing Chick Fil A with their far superior chicken and a million "my pleasure"'s would hurry up and open.

Jack Handey

Please notice the Handy Dandy Jack Handy Deep Thoughts on the side of this page...my first post got me thinking that I sure would like to read some Deep Thoughts and I found this great site where I can share Deep Thoughts. How exiting! So even if you don't care to read my deep thoughts - you can check out Jack Handeys!

Yes, but why another blog?

Well, because my friend Kendra thought I shoud have a second blog with my outlook on life in general...it got me thinking that it might be fun since my other blog is dedicated to my family life and kids. And I also thought how much Jason would appreciate my venting on a blog instead of to him (I should have tried venting when searching for the website name...just for kicks I tried it and it's taken), even if he is fabulous at that pretend paying attention face. Another reason is because they really made me mad at McDonald's earlier and I was thinking that if I did have a blog about my outlook on life in general that I would so write about it...(guess what the next post will be).

Why Yays and Ughs?

Well, everything else was taken...I'm serious. Everything. Here is a list of SOME of the things I tried.. contemplate, mytwocents (which made me consider mytucents - play on my maiden name), thisandthat, whatithink, iwasthinking (I always envision Jason yelling "WHY?" in his head when I say this to him), musings, notsodeepthoughts (remember Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey - I loved those!), blahblahblah, secondthought, ponder, ponderings, thinking, ithink, notions, fiveseses, pullupachair, viewpoint, sentiment, imthinking, ithought, imprettysure, tvandbeyond, mysentiment, visit, letsvisit, allthegoodonesaraetaken, and in desperation I even tried allthegoodblognamesaretaken - and IT WAS TAKEN UGH*.

The sad thing is that 95% of these blogs are very out of date. Shouldn't there be a rule for these things? I think blogspot should revoke blogging privledges to those that have not posted in, oh, I don't know...more than 5 years...I think that sounds fair.

I finally decided I'll probaly post on things I'm excited about (Yays) and things *I'm disgusted about (Ughs) - and probably some things that are in between.

I also considered thoughts fromunder5feet and 4foot11andahalf - but if any strangers read this I want to have an open mind.

Bet you wish you hadn't wondered "Why YaysandUghs!"
